Making business drawings with ConceptDraw PRO is easier than using MS Visio. Thus replacing the diagramming software, allows to keep all your drawings, created in the old versions of MS Visio. If you used MS Visio 2003-2010 before and now is considering to switch to ConceptDraw PRO, maybe this is a good news - ConceptDraw PRO v10 is still supported reading and writing of Microsoft Visio XML file format. The writing VDX files is no longer supported. Since MS Visio 2013 drawing files are written in the new VSDX and VSDM file formats. MS Visio 2010 and earlier versions support reading and writing files in a binary VSD or xml-based VDX file formats.

It is a filename extension for the MS Visio XML drawing file format. VDX can be created with the MS Visio 2003-2007. I am not aware of any electrical schematic CAD software that have built in solar PV or Renewable energy component libraries.MS Visio file with the extention. They do have component editors that allow you to draw your own components - so they could be adapted for that use. The all have large libraries of components but these are PCB circuit components (passive components and ICs) they don't have large components like PV panels, breakers, inverters, etc. I don't think it's excellent schematic editor is limited though.Īll of the above are electrical schematic CAD tools combined with PCB design tools.

DipTrace is probably the best of the free ones but is also not opensource so it's free version has limts on pcb size and layers just like Eagle. It is not opensource and it's free version has a limit on the PCB size and layers but I don't think the effect its schematic editor. Eagle has long been the hobbyist standard but not as easy to use with an outdated user interface. Re: Any free tools for making PV system schematics?įor electrical circuit schematics (and pcb design) KiCad is the best free, opensource program.
